Installation Procedure from Motorola Customer Service
 

Wi-Fi is currently only supported on the Moto Q9m, and the Moto Q8. Using Wi-Fi does require a third party mini SDIO Wi-Fi card.
 

 

To Install and Use Wi-Fi:

1. Power off your Q9m or Q8
2. Insert your mini SDIO Wi-Fi card in the miniSD slot on the side of your device.
3. Power on your Q9m or Q8.
4. Install attached Wi-Fi Driver .cab file from your PC with your phone connected to the PC via USB cable.
5. Install the driver in your directory on the device
6. Power Cycle your phone (on/off)


 You will be prompted to configure Wi-Fi Power, select the setting of your choice (Note: A change in setting can impact

 your battery life).

To Access Wi-Fi Settings

1. Hold the “HOME” button from the home screen for 3 seconds to access the ‘Quick List’ and select ‘Wireless Manager.’
2. Press the right soft key for Menu and select Wi-Fi Settings.
3. Select the Wi-Fi network visible to you.
4. To connect to a network, select one from this list or select New…
5. Enter the network name if you select New… and set the correct options if this is a hidden and/or ad-hoc network in this

    prompt. Press Next.
6. In the next prompt, select the type of authentication the network is using (Open, Shared, WPA, WPA-PSK).
7. Next, select the type of data encryption (Disabled, WEP, TKIP).
8. Next, enter the network key and press Next.
9. Press Finish.

Note: If you are connecting to an unsecured network, you should not have to change any of the default settings.
